Smile and the world will smile at you, never give up. -- Steve
To Michael Lewis
I am dedicating this page to Michael Lewis. Not the NFL wide receiver, Michael Lewis,
but someone even stronger than that. Michael is an Indiana teenager who became paralyzed after landing
a jump wrong and having his dirt bike land on him. I was informed of this story by one of his friend's mom, Jami Seppey. She
wanted to do something nice for him and asked me to make this page. Well, Michael, you have a lot
of friends who are thinking about you: Jami, Mark, Eric, Ryan, Andrew, Kyle, Chase, Dan, Sam, Vickie,
Jack, Jake, Amie and Becka (To name a few). They are there for you and always will be.
Michael, first of all, we are all glad you are alive! Obviously, you are a man
of much strength. I am sorry to hear about your accident. I can only imagine what you must
be going through. Our daughter, Haley, was shot in the chest with a .22 caliber rifle and
survived. I only tell you this to let you know that I know the feeling of "life changing" pain.
I also know that we suffer many trials in life.
I have learned and continue to learn that as people we have much to gain through and from
adversity. This may not make much sense now, but one day it will. You would not have made
it this far if God didn't have some "special plans" for you. You may doubt it now, but His
plans do not always go along with our plans, there lies our challenge as people.
I encourage you (me) to press on and not look back. "Looking back" is called the 'past' for
a reason - we cannot change it. Your (my) future is "here and now" and is called the 'present'
for a reason - even if it is not what we expected, it is still a 'present' from God!
Hang in there Michael, never lose your faith and never give up hope.
Your friend,
Steve Torkelson
