The "t" is silent

The other day Roxanne was driving to Willmar with the kids. Haley, age 9, looks at Roxanne and says, "Mom, look it's 'The Home Depot'." (Depot pronounced with the "t"). Roxanne laughs and says, "No Haley, the "t" is silent." Haley trying to be funny says, "Oh, I get it, 'He Home Depot'." (once again Depot pronounced with the "t"). It took just a second for Roxanne to figure our her reasoning. Roxanne said, "the 't' is silent." Meaning the 't' in 'the' instead of the 't' in 'depot'. We still laugh about that whenever we see a Home Depot store.
