Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again! Miss ya, buddy. -- Steve

To My Best Friend

Before beginning, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Gabe's family, and wish them well  in their quest to build something positive from this loss.

I graduated with Gabe, from Tracy High School, in 1993.  Throughout my own life, I have had friendships that came and went.  With Gabe, it lasted all through our school years, even when everyone went their own ways, until the day he was taken from us.  He was simple, sincere, truthful and kind.  It was my privilege to have had him as such a close friend.

I admired him for various reasons.  I admired his childlike simplicity, his integrity and most of all his kind and forgiving nature.  He lived a life that was outwardly simple but inwardly rich.  Gabe has touched all of us whether knowing him personally or knowing him through others.  We all carry with us that love, that warmth and encouragement he shared.

We all feel cheated that he was taken from us so young and yet we must learn to be grateful that he came along at all.

Remember the joy it was to know Gabe and the joy it was to witness the things he said, the smiles he shared, the kindness he did and how he laughed.  That's how I'll remember him and carry on in my heart the great memories he has given me.

Though this is a memorial to honor Gabe, I'm not saying goodbye for good.  He's gone on ahead of us, to a better place.  He'll watch over us and he'll continue to touch us throughout our lives until we meet up with him again.  So I won't say "goodbye" today, just I love you and I'll see you later my friend.  God bless you Gabe and God bless and comfort those you love.

Your best friend,

Steve Torkelson
