Dear Haley,
Thank you so much for sending me a letter. I was really excited to hear from you. I have been remembering what a brave little girl you were the day you came to Sioux Valley Hospital for your gun shot wound to your chest. Your parents were very worried about you. In surgery I saw that the bullet went very close to your heart. I do think it was a wonderful miracle that you survived. God protected you that day and brought you to my hospital so that we could fix your injuries. You are very special and I?m sure God has great plans for you.
Your website is great! I showed it to my mom and she cried a lot when she read your story and saw your pictures. The pages you sent from your journal are neat and I think you write very well.
Nurses are very special and I am proud that you want to be one someday. It is a wonderful way to help people. My wife, Emily, is a nurse and she would like to meet you. I have told her all about you.
I certainly want to see you again too! September 28th would be great or any other time. I have something I want to give you.
God bless you,
Love your friend,
Dr. Dennis Glatt

Your story was forwarded to me. I wanted to thank you for sharing your story, it is always so nice to hear back from families. I thought you would like to know how very brave Haley was during her flight. She talked to us the whole time. She was awesome. It can be very overwhelming to be in the helicopter and then in a trauma room with lots of people. She stayed so calm. You would have been very proud.

What an awesome website! I will never forget the day that Hailey was shot. My pager went off stating that a little girl had been shot and my heart sank to my knees. I was shocked when I got to the house and she was talking and telling me what had happened. She is the bravest little girl I've ever met! God blessed you all! Jenny

I'm glad Dr. Glatt's mother alerted me to your website. I'd read the Argus story, and appreciate reading yours, as it provides much more heart-rendering detail. It makes us appreciate our families more. Has anyone shared Dr. Glatt's survival story with you? God miraculously spared his life when he was almost six years old. At that time, three of his siblings--one older and two younger--were killed in a car/pedestrian accident. One would have expected Dennis to be with them on their walk home from the Hoven swimming pool that July evening, but he wasn't.
